QC measurements
Superbuy QC Photos: Request Measurements and Close-Ups
Turn an uncertain warehouse photo into a precise request: identify the order, define the measurement, show both ruler endpoints and record the decision.
In this guide
Attach the request to the correct order and option.
Specify the starting point, endpoint and unit.
Record whether to ship, hold or request a remedy.
Start with the decision the photograph must support
Superbuy QC photos are most useful when they answer a specific question about the item received at the warehouse. The official shopping-agent guide describes inspection and photographs after warehouse arrival. Those images can help you compare the received item with the selected option before international shipping. They do not establish every hidden property of a product. Begin with the decision you need to make: confirm a size, check a visible mark, count accessories or verify an option label.
Review the existing photographs before requesting more. One clear image may already show the required label or detail. If the missing information could change your decision, write it down in one sentence. For example, you may need to know whether the garment's flat chest width matches the seller's chart. That is a measurable question. Asking for a general quality check gives the inspector less guidance and may produce another image that leaves the same uncertainty unresolved.
Identify the order and the exact area
Include the order reference, selected colour, selected size and the part of the item you want photographed. If several similar garments are stored together, identify the specific warehouse item. A request attached to the wrong hoodie is unhelpful even when the photograph is sharp. Compare the visible product and label with your order record before interpreting a measurement. Keep unrelated items out of the request so the result can be connected to one decision.
A useful request has four parts: item, question, method and next step. An illustrative request is: for the black hoodie in size medium, please photograph the chest width laid flat, from one underarm point to the other, with both ends of the ruler visible. Please confirm the current service charge before carrying out a paid service. This specifies the evidence without assuming that a particular photo option or fee is available for every order.
Define measurements using the same method on both items
Measurements only help when the methods agree. Flat chest width is different from circumference. Garment length measured from a shoulder point is different from length measured down the back from the collar seam. A sleeve measured from the centre back includes a different distance from one measured from the shoulder seam. Read the seller's diagram first, then measure a comfortable garment using the same start and end points. Record the units alongside each number.
For an illustrative comparison, a familiar sweatshirt might measure 58 cm across the chest when laid flat. A seller's chart showing 116 cm may describe circumference, while a chart showing 58 cm may describe flat width. Do not compare those numbers directly until the definitions are known. Doubling a flat width gives an approximate geometric comparison, not a guarantee of fit; shape, stretch and construction still matter. A ruler image should resolve the definition rather than conceal it.
Request a ruler photograph that can be interpreted
Ask for the item to lie naturally without stretching and for the entire relevant ruler span to appear in the photograph. Both the zero point and the endpoint should be visible. A close crop of a number alone can hide where the measurement began. Ask for the ruler to follow the intended straight measurement rather than a fold or diagonal. If the garment is folded, the image may establish neither full width nor full length.
Avoid demanding false precision. Soft fabric, curved surfaces, folds and camera perspective can affect a reading. If a small difference would determine whether you keep the item, request a clear repeat of the same method rather than inferring millimetres from a blurry image. Keep the seller's stated measurement tolerance with the comparison when one is provided. Do not invent a universal tolerance for all sellers or assume that a photographed label proves the actual dimensions.
Separate shoe measurements that answer different questions
Foot length, removable insole length and outsole length describe different things. Foot length is measured from the heel to the longest toe. An insole includes the shape and usable internal space of a particular shoe. The outsole includes material beyond the foot and is not a substitute for either measurement. When asking for an insole photograph, first establish whether the insole can be removed without damage. A glued or shaped component may require a different approach.
For an available removable insole, request a straight view from heel to toe with the ruler endpoints visible. Compare it with an insole from a similar shoe that fits you, measured in the same way. Do not apply a fixed allowance to every shoe style. Toe shape, width, lining and intended use affect fit. If a narrow toe box is the concern, a length photograph alone may not answer it; ask for the relevant width information where the service can provide it.
Make close-ups useful by preserving context
A close-up should be paired with a wider view when location matters. For a mark on a jacket, identify the panel and side, then ask for a detailed view of that specific area. For a printed design, a straight-on view helps with placement, while a close-up helps inspect the visible finish. Reflections and folds can create misleading impressions. Request a different angle when that would distinguish a surface mark from lighting rather than immediately concluding that the item is defective.
Countable details need countable evidence. If a set should include two straps and a pouch, ask for all included pieces in one photograph. For hardware, specify the clasp, zip or buckle you want to see. A photograph can document its appearance, but it cannot prove long-term strength or reliability. Electronics need similar limits: visible ports and model labels do not establish electrical safety or successful operation. Only rely on testing that was actually specified, performed and documented.
Check service conditions before placing the request
Extra photographs and measurements may be offered through current warehouse service options, and charges or availability can vary. Read the live description and confirm what the service includes. A detailed-photo option should not be treated as a professional authentication or laboratory inspection. If the requested measurement would require disassembly or risk damaging the item, ask whether it can be performed safely. Do not assume that warehouse staff can open every sealed or specialised product.
Consider the timing of a correction. Warehouse storage and seller return eligibility are separate matters. Review an arrival promptly even when you plan to consolidate several purchases later. If a discrepancy appears, preserve the order details, seller chart and relevant photograph before contacting support. Ask which remedy is available for that exact order and what costs apply. A universal return deadline copied from another listing is not a reliable basis for waiting.
Record the result and make the next action explicit
After receiving the evidence, record the observed measurement or condition, the method used and the decision. A short status such as ready to ship, hold for clarification or request a remedy is more useful than an unstructured folder of images. Keep the decision attached to the order reference so an unresolved item is not accidentally included in an international parcel. If the measurement remains unclear, state precisely what the repeat photograph needs to change.
Use additional photos selectively. The aim is to obtain enough evidence for a decision, not to maximise the image count. Match the order, define the question, specify the method, check the service terms and assess the result against your saved reference. Continue with the shoe or hoodie sizing guide for the relevant measurement method. Once the item is accepted, use the shipping planner to consider packed weight and dimensions as a separate step.
Use the live destination for current listing details, then return to the QC checklist and shipping calculator before submitting an international parcel.
